Surah Al-Baqarah 1-5: Arabic, Transliteration & Translation

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

1. 2:1

   الۤمّۤ ۚ

   Alif laam miim

   Alif. Lam. Mim.

2. 2:2

   ذٰلِكَ الْكِتٰبُ لَا رَيْبَ ۛ فِيْهِ ۛ هُدًى لِّلْمُتَّقِيْنَۙ

   Dzalikal kitaabu laa raiba fiihi hudal(n)-lilmuttaqiin(a)

   This is the Book of Allah: there is no doubt about it. It is guidance to Godfearing people,

3. 2:3

   الَّذِيْنَ يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِالْغَيْبِ وَيُقِيْمُوْنَ الصَّلٰوةَ وَمِمَّا رَزَقْنٰهُمْ يُنْفِقُوْنَ ۙ

   Al-ladziina yu'minuuna bilghaibi wayuqiimuunash-shalaata wamimmaa razaqnaahum yunfiquun(a)

   who believe in the unseen, establish the Salats and expend (in Our way) out of what We have bestowed on them;

4. 2:4

   وَالَّذِيْنَ يُؤْمِنُوْنَ بِمَآ اُنْزِلَ اِلَيْكَ وَمَآ اُنْزِلَ مِنْ قَبْلِكَ ۚ وَبِالْاٰخِرَةِ هُمْ يُوْقِنُوْنَۗ

   Waal-ladziina yu'minuuna bimaa unzila ilaika wamaa unzila min qablika wa bil aakhirati hum yuuqinuun(a)

   who believe in the Book We have sent down to you (i.e. the Qur'an) and in the Books sent down before you, and firmly believe in the Hereafter.

5. 2:5

   اُولٰۤىِٕكَ عَلٰى هُدًى مِّنْ رَّبِّهِمْ ۙ وَاُولٰۤىِٕكَ هُمُ الْمُفْلِحُوْنَ

   Uula-ika 'ala hudam(n) mir(n) rabbihim wa-uula-ika humul muflihuun(a)

   Such people are on the right way from their Lord and such are truly successful.
