Surah Al-Mursalat: Arabic, Transliteration & Translation

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

1. 77:1

   وَالْمُرْسَلٰتِ عُرْفًاۙ

   Wal mursalaati 'urfan

   By the (winds) sent forth in quick succession,

2. 77:2

   فَالْعٰصِفٰتِ عَصْفًاۙ

   Fal 'aashifaati 'ashfan

   which then blow tempestuously

3. 77:3

   وَّالنّٰشِرٰتِ نَشْرًاۙ

   Wannaasyiraati nasyran

   and raise (clouds) and scatter them around,

4. 77:4

   فَالْفٰرِقٰتِ فَرْقًاۙ

   Fal faariqaati farqan

   then winnow them thoroughly,

5. 77:5

   فَالْمُلْقِيٰتِ ذِكْرًاۙ

   Fal mulqiyaati dzikran

   and then cast (Allah's) remembrance (in people's hearts),

6. 77:6

   عُذْرًا اَوْ نُذْرًاۙ

   'Udzran au nudzran

   to serve as an excuse or a warning.

7. 77:7

   اِنَّمَا تُوْعَدُوْنَ لَوَاقِعٌۗ

   Innamaa tuu'aduuna lawaaqi'un

   Surely what you are promised shall come to pass.

8. 77:8

   فَاِذَا النُّجُوْمُ طُمِسَتْۙ

   Fa-idzaannujuumu thumisat

   So when the stars are extinguished,

9. 77:9

   وَاِذَا السَّمَاۤءُ فُرِجَتْۙ

   Wa-idzaassamaa-u furijat

   and the sky is rent asunder,

10. 77:10

    وَاِذَا الْجِبَالُ نُسِفَتْۙ

    Wa-idzaal jibaalu nusifat

    and the mountains are blown away,

11. 77:11

    وَاِذَا الرُّسُلُ اُقِّتَتْۗ

    Wa-idzaarrusulu uqqitat

    and the appointed time to bring the Messengers together arrives, (then shall the promised event come to pass).

12. 77:12

    لِاَيِّ يَوْمٍ اُجِّلَتْۗ

    Ai-yi yaumin ujjilat

    To which Day has this task been deferred?

13. 77:13

    لِيَوْمِ الْفَصْلِۚ

    Liyaumil fashl(i)

    To the Day of Judgement.

14. 77:14

    وَمَآ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِۗ

    Wamaa adraaka maa yaumul fashl(i)

    What do you know what the Day of Judgement is?

15. 77:15

    وَيْلٌ يَّوْمَىِٕذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ

    Wailun yauma-idzil(n)-lilmukadz-dzibiin(a)

    Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth!

16. 77:16

    اَلَمْ نُهْلِكِ الْاَوَّلِيْنَۗ

    Alam nuhlikil au-waliin(a)

    Did We not destroy many a nation of the earlier times?

17. 77:17

    ثُمَّ نُتْبِعُهُمُ الْاٰخِرِيْنَ

    Tsumma nutbi'uhumu-aakhiriin(a)

    And We shall cause those of later times to follow them.

18. 77:18

    كَذٰلِكَ نَفْعَلُ بِالْمُجْرِمِيْنَ

    Kadzalika naf'alu bil mujrimiin(a)

    Thus do We deal with the guilty.

19. 77:19

    وَيْلٌ يَّوْمَىِٕذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ

    Wailun yauma-idzil(n)-lilmukadz-dzibiin(a)

    Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth!

20. 77:20

    اَلَمْ نَخْلُقْكُّمْ مِّنْ مَّاۤءٍ مَّهِيْنٍۙ

    Alam nakhluqkum min maa-in mahiinin

    Did We not create you of a mean fluid,

21. 77:21

    فَجَعَلْنٰهُ فِيْ قَرَارٍ مَّكِيْنٍ

    Faja'alnaahu fii qaraarin makiinin

    which We then placed in a secure repository

22. 77:22

    اِلٰى قَدَرٍ مَّعْلُوْمٍۙ

    Ila qadarin ma'luumin

    until an appointed time?

23. 77:23

    فَقَدَرْنَاۖ فَنِعْمَ الْقٰدِرُوْنَ

    Faqadarnaa fani'mal qaadiruun(a)

    See that We had the power to do so. Great indeed is Our power to do what We will.

24. 77:24

    وَيْلٌ يَّوْمَىِٕذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ

    Wailun yauma-idzil(n)-lilmukadz-dzibiin(a)

    Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth!

25. 77:25

    اَلَمْ نَجْعَلِ الْاَرْضَ كِفَاتًاۙ

    Alam naj'alil ardha kifaatan

    Did We not make the earth a receptacle,

26. 77:26

    اَحْيَاۤءً وَّاَمْوَاتًاۙ

    Ahyaa-an wa-amwaatan

    for the living and the dead,

27. 77:27

    وَّجَعَلْنَا فِيْهَا رَوَاسِيَ شٰمِخٰتٍ وَّاَسْقَيْنٰكُمْ مَّاۤءً فُرَاتًاۗ

    Waja'alnaa fiihaa rawaasiya syaamikhaatin wa-asqainaakum maa-an furaatan

    and did We not firmly fix towering mountains on it and give you sweet water to drink?

28. 77:28

    وَيْلٌ يَّوْمَىِٕذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ

    Wailun yauma-idzil(n)-lilmukadz-dzibiin(a)

    Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth!

29. 77:29

    اِنْطَلِقُوْٓا اِلٰى مَا كُنْتُمْ بِهٖ تُكَذِّبُوْنَۚ

    Anthaliquu ila maa kuntum bihi tukadz-dzibuun(a)

    Proceed now towards that which you were wont to deny as false;

30. 77:30

    اِنْطَلِقُوْٓا اِلٰى ظِلٍّ ذِيْ ثَلٰثِ شُعَبٍ

    Anthaliquu ila zhillin dzii tsalaatsi syu'abin

    proceed towards the three-pronged shadow,

31. 77:31

    لَا ظَلِيْلٍ وَّلَا يُغْنِيْ مِنَ اللَّهَبِۗ

    Laa zhaliilin walaa yughnii minallahab(i)

    which neither provides (cooling) shade nor protection against the flames;

32. 77:32

    اِنَّهَا تَرْمِيْ بِشَرَرٍ كَالْقَصْرِۚ

    Innahaa tarmii bisyararin kal qashr(i)

    it indeed throws up sparks like castles,

33. 77:33

    كَاَنَّهٗ جِمٰلَتٌ صُفْرٌۗ

    Kaannahu jimaalatun shufrun

    which seem as though they are yellow-coloured camels.

34. 77:34

    وَيْلٌ يَّوْمَىِٕذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ

    Wailun yauma-idzil(n)-lilmukadz-dzibiin(a)

    Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth!

35. 77:35

    هٰذَا يَوْمُ لَا يَنْطِقُوْنَۙ

    Hadzaa yaumu laa yanthiquun(a)

    That will be the Day on which they will not (be able to) utter a word,

36. 77:36

    وَلَا يُؤْذَنُ لَهُمْ فَيَعْتَذِرُوْنَ

    Walaa yu'dzanu lahum faya'tadziruun(a)

    nor will they be allowed to proffer excuses.

37. 77:37

    وَيْلٌ يَّوْمَىِٕذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ

    Wailun yauma-idzil(n)-lilmukadz-dzibiin(a)

    Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth!

38. 77:38

    هٰذَا يَوْمُ الْفَصْلِ جَمَعْنٰكُمْ وَالْاَوَّلِيْنَ

    Hadzaa yaumul fashli jama'naakum wal au-waliin(a)

    That is the Day of Judgement on which We have assembled you as well as all those who went before you.

39. 77:39

    فَاِنْ كَانَ لَكُمْ كَيْدٌ فَكِيْدُوْنِ

    Fa-in kaana lakum kaidun fakiiduun(i)

    So if you have any ploy, try it against Me!

40. 77:40

    وَيْلٌ يَّوْمَىِٕذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ ࣖ

    Wailun yauma-idzil(n)-lilmukadz-dzibiin(a)

    Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth!

41. 77:41

    اِنَّ الْمُتَّقِيْنَ فِيْ ظِلٰلٍ وَّعُيُوْنٍۙ

    Innal muttaqiina fii zhilalin wa'uyuunin

    Behold, today the God-fearing will be amidst shades and springs,

42. 77:42

    وَّفَوَاكِهَ مِمَّا يَشْتَهُوْنَۗ

    Wafawaakiha mimmaa yasytahuun(a)

    and the fruits that they desire (will be ready at hand).

43. 77:43

    كُلُوْا وَاشْرَبُوْا هَنِيْۤـًٔا ۢبِمَا كُنْتُمْ تَعْمَلُوْنَ

    Kuluu waasyrabuu hanii-an bimaa kuntum ta'maluun(a)

    Eat and drink and may every joy attend you as a reward for your deeds.

44. 77:44

    اِنَّا كَذٰلِكَ نَجْزِى الْمُحْسِنِيْنَ

    Innaa kadzalika najziil muhsiniin(a)

    Thus do We reward those that do good.

45. 77:45

    وَيْلٌ يَّوْمَىِٕذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ

    Wailun yauma-idzil(n)-lilmukadz-dzibiin(a)

    Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth!

46. 77:46

    كُلُوْا وَتَمَتَّعُوْا قَلِيْلًا اِنَّكُمْ مُّجْرِمُوْنَ

    Kuluu watamatta'uu qaliilaa innakum mujrimuun(a)

    Eat and enjoy yourselves for a while. Surely you are evil-doers.

47. 77:47

    وَيْلٌ يَّوْمَىِٕذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ

    Wailun yauma-idzil(n)-lilmukadz-dzibiin(a)

    Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth!

48. 77:48

    وَاِذَا قِيْلَ لَهُمُ ارْكَعُوْا لَا يَرْكَعُوْنَ

    Wa-idzaa qiila lahumuurka'uu laa yarka'uun(a)

    When it is said to them: “Bow down (before Allah),” they do not bow down.

49. 77:49

    وَيْلٌ يَّوْمَىِٕذٍ لِّلْمُكَذِّبِيْنَ

    Wailun yauma-idzil(n)-lilmukadz-dzibiin(a)

    Woe on that Day to those that give the lie to the Truth!

50. 77:50

    فَبِاَيِّ حَدِيْثٍۢ بَعْدَهٗ يُؤْمِنُوْنَ ࣖ ۔

    Fabiai-yi hadiitsin ba'dahu yu'minuun(a)

    In what discourse after this (Qur'an) will they, then, believe?
