Surah At-Takathur: Arabic, Transliteration & Translation

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

1. 102:1

   اَلْهٰىكُمُ التَّكَاثُرُۙ

   Al-haakumut-takaatsur(u)

   The craving for ever-greater worldly gains and to excel others in that regard keeps you occupied

2. 102:2

   حَتّٰى زُرْتُمُ الْمَقَابِرَۗ

   Hatta zurtumul maqaabir(a)

   until you reach your graves.

3. 102:3

   كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُوْنَۙ

   Kalaa saufa ta'lamuun(a)

   Nay, you will soon come to know;

4. 102:4

   ثُمَّ كَلَّا سَوْفَ تَعْلَمُوْنَ

   Tsumma kalaa saufa ta'lamuun(a)

   nay, again, you shall soon come to know.

5. 102:5

   كَلَّا لَوْ تَعْلَمُوْنَ عِلْمَ الْيَقِيْنِۗ

   Kalaa lau ta'lamuuna 'ilmal yaqiin(i)

   Nay, would that you knew with certainty of knowledge (what your attitude will lead to, you would never have acted the way you do).

6. 102:6

   لَتَرَوُنَّ الْجَحِيْمَۙ

   Latarawun-nal jahiim(a)

   You will surely end up seeing Hell;

7. 102:7

   ثُمَّ لَتَرَوُنَّهَا عَيْنَ الْيَقِيْنِۙ

   Tsumma latarawun-nahaa 'ainal yaqiin(i)

   again, you shall most certainly end up seeing it with absolute certainty.

8. 102:8

   ثُمَّ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ يَوْمَىِٕذٍ عَنِ النَّعِيْمِ ࣖ

   Tsumma latus-alun-na yauma-idzin 'anin-na'iim(i)

   Then, on that Day, you will be called to account for all the bounties you enjoyed.
