About Surah An-Nas
An-Nas (“Mankind”) is the final surah of the Quran. Together with Al-Falaq it forms al-Mu'awwidhatayn, recited for protection.
In the hadith
- Before sleeping, the Prophet ﷺ would recite Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq and An-Nas into his cupped hands and wipe them over his body. (Sahih al-Bukhari 5017)
- “Verses have been revealed tonight the like of which has never been seen”: Al-Falaq and An-Nas. (Sahih Muslim 814)
بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ
قُلْ اَعُوْذُ بِرَبِّ النَّاسِۙ
Qul a'uudzu birabbin-naas(i)
Say: “I seek refuge with the Lord of mankind;
مِنْ شَرِّ الْوَسْوَاسِ ەۙ الْخَنَّاسِۖ
Min syarril waswaasil khan-naas(i)
from the mischief of the whispering, elusive prompter who returns again and again,
الَّذِيْ يُوَسْوِسُ فِيْ صُدُوْرِ النَّاسِۙ
Al-ladzii yuwaswisu fii shuduurin-naas(i)
who whispers in the hearts of people;
