Surah Al-A'la: Arabic, Transliteration & Translation

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

1. 87:1

   سَبِّحِ اسْمَ رَبِّكَ الْاَعْلَىۙ

   Sabbihiisma rabbikal a'l(a)

   Glorify the name of your Lord, the Most High,

2. 87:2

   الَّذِيْ خَلَقَ فَسَوّٰىۖ

   Al-ladzii khalaqa fasau-w(a)

   Who created all things and fashioned them in good proportion;

3. 87:3

   وَالَّذِيْ قَدَّرَ فَهَدٰىۖ

   Waal-ladzii qaddara fahad(a)

   Who determined and guided them,

4. 87:4

   وَالَّذِيْٓ اَخْرَجَ الْمَرْعٰىۖ

   Waal-ladzii akhrajal mar'(a)

   Who brought forth the pasture,

5. 87:5

   فَجَعَلَهٗ غُثَاۤءً اَحْوٰىۖ

   Faja'alahu ghutsaa-an ahw(a)

   and then made it into a blackish straw.

6. 87:6

   سَنُقْرِئُكَ فَلَا تَنْسٰىٓ ۖ

   Sanuqri-uka falaa tans(a)

   We shall make you recite and then you will not forget,

7. 87:7

   اِلَّا مَا شَاۤءَ اللّٰهُ ۗاِنَّهٗ يَعْلَمُ الْجَهْرَ وَمَا يَخْفٰىۗ

   Ilaa maa syaa-allahu innahu ya'lamul jahra wamaa yakhf(a)

   except what Allah should wish. He knows all that is manifest and all that is hidden.

8. 87:8

   وَنُيَسِّرُكَ لِلْيُسْرٰىۖ

   Wanuyassiruka lilyusr(a)

   We shall ease you to follow the way of Ease.

9. 87:9

   فَذَكِّرْ اِنْ نَّفَعَتِ الذِّكْرٰىۗ

   Fadzakkir in nafa'atidz-dzikr(a)

   So render good counsel if good counsel will avail.

10. 87:10

    سَيَذَّكَّرُ مَنْ يَّخْشٰىۙ

    Sayadz-dzakkaru man yakhsy(a)

    He who fears (Allah) shall heed it,

11. 87:11

    وَيَتَجَنَّبُهَا الْاَشْقَىۙ

    Wayatajannabuhaal asyq(a)

    but the wretched will turn away from it.

12. 87:12

    الَّذِيْ يَصْلَى النَّارَ الْكُبْرٰىۚ

    Al-ladzii yashlannaaral kubr(a)

    He will be cast into the Great Fire.

13. 87:13

    ثُمَّ لَا يَمُوْتُ فِيْهَا وَلَا يَحْيٰىۗ

    Tsumma laa yamuutu fiihaa walaa yahyaa

    Then he will neither die in it, nor live.

14. 87:14

    قَدْ اَفْلَحَ مَنْ تَزَكّٰىۙ

    Qad aflaha man tazakk(a)

    He who purified himself shall prosper,

15. 87:15

    وَذَكَرَ اسْمَ رَبِّهٖ فَصَلّٰىۗ

    Wadzakaraasma rabbihi fashall(a)

    remembering his Lord's name and praying.

16. 87:16

    بَلْ تُؤْثِرُوْنَ الْحَيٰوةَ الدُّنْيَاۖ

    Bal tu'tsiruunal hayaataddunyaa

    No; but you prefer the present life,

17. 87:17

    وَالْاٰخِرَةُ خَيْرٌ وَّاَبْقٰىۗ

    Wal-aakhiratu khairun wa-abq(a)

    whereas the Hereafter is better and more enduring.

18. 87:18

    اِنَّ هٰذَا لَفِى الصُّحُفِ الْاُوْلٰىۙ

    Inna hadzaa lafiish-shuhufil aul(a)

    This, indeed, was in the ancient Scrolls,

19. 87:19

    صُحُفِ اِبْرٰهِيْمَ وَمُوْسٰى ࣖ

    Shuhufi ibraahiima wamuus(a)

    the Scrolls of Abraham and Moses.
