Surah Al-Infitar: Arabic, Transliteration & Translation

بِسْمِ اللّٰهِ الرَّحْمٰنِ الرَّحِيْمِ

1. 82:1

   اِذَا السَّمَاۤءُ انْفَطَرَتْۙ

   Idzaas-samaa-uun fatharat

   When the heaven is split asunder,

2. 82:2

   وَاِذَا الْكَوَاكِبُ انْتَثَرَتْۙ

   Wa-idzaal kawaakibuun tatsarat

   when the stars are scattered,

3. 82:3

   وَاِذَا الْبِحَارُ فُجِّرَتْۙ

   Wa-idzaal bihaaru fujjirat

   when the seas are made to burst forth,

4. 82:4

   وَاِذَا الْقُبُوْرُ بُعْثِرَتْۙ

   Wa-idzaal qubuuru bu' tsirat

   and when graves are laid open,

5. 82:5

   عَلِمَتْ نَفْسٌ مَّا قَدَّمَتْ وَاَخَّرَتْۗ

   'Alimat nafsun maa qaddamat wa-akh-kharat

   everyone shall know all his deeds, both the earlier and the later.

6. 82:6

   يٰٓاَيُّهَا الْاِنْسَانُ مَا غَرَّكَ بِرَبِّكَ الْكَرِيْمِۙ

   Yaa ai-yuhaa-insaanu maa gharraka birabbikal kariim(i)

   O man! What has deceived you about your generous Lord

7. 82:7

   الَّذِيْ خَلَقَكَ فَسَوّٰىكَ فَعَدَلَكَۙ

   Al-ladzii khalaqaka fasau-waaka fa'adalak(a)

   Who created you, shaped you, and made you well-proportioned,

8. 82:8

   فِيْٓ اَيِّ صُوْرَةٍ مَّا شَاۤءَ رَكَّبَكَۗ

   Fii ai-yi shuuratin maa syaa-a rakkabak(a)

   and set you in whatever form He pleased?

9. 82:9

   كَلَّا بَلْ تُكَذِّبُوْنَ بِالدِّيْنِۙ

   Kalaa bal tukadz-dzibuuna biddiin(i)

   No indeed; (the fact is that) you deny the Reckoning, declaring it a lie;

10. 82:10

    وَاِنَّ عَلَيْكُمْ لَحٰفِظِيْنَۙ

    Wa-inna 'alaikum lahaafizhiin(a)

    you do so the while there are watchers over you;

11. 82:11

    كِرَامًا كَاتِبِيْنَۙ

    Kiraaman kaatibiin(a)

    noble scribes,

12. 82:12

    يَعْلَمُوْنَ مَا تَفْعَلُوْنَ

    Ya'lamuuna maa taf'aluun(a)

    who know what you do.

13. 82:13

    اِنَّ الْاَبْرَارَ لَفِيْ نَعِيْمٍۙ

    Innal abraara lafii na'iimin

    Surely the virtuous shall be in Bliss,

14. 82:14

    وَّاِنَّ الْفُجَّارَ لَفِيْ جَحِيْمٍ

    Wa-innal fujjaara lafii jahiimin

    and the wicked shall be in the Blazing Fire.

15. 82:15

    يَصْلَوْنَهَا يَوْمَ الدِّيْنِ

    Yashlaunahaa yaumaddiin(i)

    They shall enter it on the Day of Recompense

16. 82:16

    وَمَا هُمْ عَنْهَا بِغَاۤىِٕبِيْنَۗ

    Wamaa hum 'anhaa bighaa-ibiin(a)

    and then shall never come out of it.

17. 82:17

    وَمَآ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّيْنِۙ

    Wamaa adraaka maa yaumuddiin(i)

    What do you know what the Day of Recompense is?

18. 82:18

    ثُمَّ مَآ اَدْرٰىكَ مَا يَوْمُ الدِّيْنِۗ

    Tsumma maa adraaka maa yaumuddiin(i)

    Again, what do you know what the Day of Recompense is?

19. 82:19

    يَوْمَ لَا تَمْلِكُ نَفْسٌ لِّنَفْسٍ شَيْـًٔا ۗوَالْاَمْرُ يَوْمَىِٕذٍ لِّلّٰهِ ࣖ

    Yauma laa tamliku nafsun linafsin syai-an wal amru yauma-idzil(n)-lillah(i)

    It is the Day when no one shall have the power to do anything for another, and all command shall be Allah's.
